New panellist: Rob Bruce joins The PRofessionals

Rob Bruce joins Digital PR panel at PRofessionals alongside recently announced, Craig McGill, Comms at PwC, Ian Daniels from Yard Digital and Laura Sutherland, Aura PR.

Rob Bruce has worked in the PR industry for more than 20 years. He started his career doing crisis and corporate comms, winning a PR Week Sword of Excellence Award for a lobbying campaign for Talisman Energy, and headed up the work which led to the Food Standards Agency relocating to Aberdeen.

He was then taken on by Tennent’s to handle corporate and investor relations for the impending sale of the company. After being bought by Interbrew, he joined the brand team where he was promoted three times and helped deliver award winning marketing activity in what he described was “the best job, with the best team, anyone could ever hope for”.

Rob then moved to Whyte & Mackay spending five years as part of the senior management team which made The Dalmore and Jura the fastest growing malts in the world. He then took a career break, becoming a stay at home dad and dabbling in the world of freelance. It was during that time (working for the likes of Barnardos, the Hutton Institute, the National Autistic Society and Partners in Play) he realised he wanted to use his skills “to help others who are genuinely trying to help others”.

He recently joined the University of Edinburgh to manage global communications for an international research project investigating how the environment (rural, coastal and urban) can be used in a sustainable way to help alleviate poverty in developing countries.
