IWD 2022 – advice from women in PR

This International Women’s Day (8 March 2022), I invited the PRFest community to put forward some words of inspiration for women coming into the industry.

Firstly, I’d like to recognise the many strong women across the world. The last two years with the pandemic have put in-ordinary strains on women who work and look after children and the home. The war in Ukraine is demonstrating the resilience of women at such a horrific time.

Women are made of strong stuff. But we must remember, women are also only human…

A special thanks to Lou, Rebecca, Lucy, Agnes, Rachael and Mary for sharing your advice with the rest of the PR and communication industry.

I had asked some men working in PR to give me some advice from their perspective, so we have male supporters as I believe it takes us all to #BreakTheBias, but they declined, saying they want to give women the platform.

It’s true what the campaign says:

Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.

We can break the bias in our communities.

We can break the bias in our workplaces.

We can break the bias in our schools, colleges and universities.

Together, we can all break the bias – on International Women’s Day (IWD) and beyond.

Please consider sharing this post with your network as it may inspire someone or maybe it’ll just give them permission to keep trying and keep pushing on…
